Cirque du Soleil
Special New York City Performance
for Dreams Can Be Foundation!

Our 5th annual benefit fundraiser with Cirque du Soleil was held again this year in NYC. Our patrons were treated to a special performance of Cirque du Soleil’s show “CORTEO”. All guests also received their very own Dream’s Goody Bag filled with donations generously provided by our sponsors and which  included a full bottle of Beleza Pura Super Premium Cachaça, Compilation CD’s from Six Degree Records, wristbands designed by Paddy Boom of the Scissor Sister’s and donated by Whateverittakes.org, Free Tango Passes to Belle Epoque Tango, NYC, and very special key chains created by Santa Cor in Rio de Janeiro.

Dreams Can Be Foundation would also like to thank American Airlines for sponsoring tickets for Dreams Can Be Foundation in order to produce the event. All costs associated with this benefit event were completely covered by Dreams Can Be Foundation’s board of directors and with the assistance of the donors mentioned above enabling us to raise USD$23,375. The money will be distributed in November ‘06 to select projects and programs in the Rede Circo do Mundo Brasil’s network of social circus programs.

This event would not have been possible without the continued generosity of our longest running partner Cirque du Soleil and the help of volunteers who took many actions on our behalf. Special thanks goes out to Frederico Seve and the staff of LatinCollector (NYC), Sueli Bonaparte of the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce (NYC) and staff, Eddie Mendes of The Brasilians newspaper (NYC), Paulo Winter – Winter Jazz Festival (US), Beco Dranoff of Boca Grande Design (NYC) , Angela Epstein of Epstein Associates (CONN),  and our very special volunteer from NYC working with us in Rio de Janeiro by way of Spain- Jose Cerezo- who single handedly sold 30 tickets.

Renee and Lisa with the Goody Bags

As always we would like to thank Renee Shaw for her outstanding organizational and professional skills when it comes to the logistics of selling and distributing the tickets and that of her husband Istvan Jaray for going above and beyond the call of duty in making the 5 hour trip to NYC to make sure that everything went off without a hitch and that all 200 goody bags were filled by curtain time. As ever Renee is the consummate professional.

And finally the 200 of you out there who purchased a ticket and came out to see the show!

A great big thank you from the staff of Dreams Can Be Foundation and the projects and programs that your contributions have made possible.
