Inaugural Cirque du Soleil Fundraiser for Dreams
Our first fundraising event in association with Cirque du Soleil was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 10, 2002. The sun was shining and the spirits were high as the big top rolled into Pittsburgh and made their temporary home at the foot of the new Heinz Field Football Stadium in the downtown area. Approx 300 friends of Dreams Can Be packed the reception area at Heinz Field to celebrate with us the opening of Quidam in Pittsburgh. Guests paid $150 a ticket for the reception and show ‐ and according to the feedback ‐ it was worth every penny if not more.
We previewed our fundraising video which brought tears to the eyes of our donors. The tears flowed even more as we mentioned we raised $33,000 to donate to Social Circus programs in Brazil. Over the course of the next few months we will be visiting the circus programs in the Cirque du Munde Brazil network and making our assessments and donations.
We are thrilled at the opportunity offered to us by Cirque to help our kids in Brazil and we look forward to raising even more money next year. If you haven’t seen a Cirque du Soleil show yet - you are missing an experience of a lifetime!
