British Consul commemorates the construction of the Fight For Peace Sports and Educational Centre in Complexo da Maré

On July 9th, British Consul Paul Yaghmourian commemorated the laying of the foundation stone of the new Sports and Educational Centre in the Complexo da Maré.

The British Embassy, through the ‘Small Projects Fund,' donated more than 100,000 Reais for construction. The centre will attend to nearly 300 at-risk children and offer sports, basic and secondary education and IT skills training.


Fight For Peace youth welcome youth from the School Without Borders

Participating in an exchange project, youth from the “School without Borders” project visited the Fight for Peace project and the community of Complexo da Maré. Youth from Fight for Peace were invited to join the visitors for a cruise around the Guanabara Bay aboard the Tocorimé, the largest wooden sailboat in Brazil, built by hand in the heart of the Amazon.

Fight For Peace Wins ANDI (Child Rights News Agency) competition

Youth participating in the Fight for Peace project will familiarise themselves with and debate the rights of children and adolescents alongside youth from private schools, public authorities and specialists. They will write stories, notes and proposals in order so that public officials and society in general remember to respect the rights of children and adolescents. The texts will be included in a 2005 day book publication that also registers project results. The project “Fight for Peace: Day to Day” is one of the winners of the 3rd ANDI Network Competition for Communication Projects for the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

Fight For Peace sponsors night of Olympic Boxing

In another boxing event held by Fight for Peace at the São Cristóvão Club's nautical branch, our athlete Manuela Lopes did not get to show off her talent due to the absence of her opponent. She was declared winner by WO.
